Site Analysis and Consultation
The first step in a well thought out design is a site evaluation. Our professional design and horticultural specialists explore your location, focusing on environmental characteristics that are specific to your property.
Ideal areas for planting are identified. Sun exposure, low and high areas, soil types, and other environmental characteristics are examined.
The next step is the consultation, where we meet with you to learn about what you want from your landscape.
We ask questions like;
- what types of foods do you enjoy?
- do you have special dietary needs?
- what is your aesthetic style?
- how much do you want to spend working in the garden a day or week?
By combining information gathered from the site analysis and consultation, we have a baseline for the full design.
Site analysis generally take 2 hours with a fee of $180.
Full Site Designs
Combining the environmental specifications of your property and your personal vision for your space, we create a design that provide a beautiful, low-maintenance, highly productive landscape. A full design includes a budget with local sources for plant materials and an installation guide.
Our design fee is $40 per hour, and full residential designs including a project budget and an installation plan generally take 12-16 hours.
Vegetable gardens are designed using Organic Certification standards, applying ecological gardening, companion planting, and biodynamic methods. Our square-foot design system will have you maximizing food production season after season, while rebuilding the health and structure of your soil.
Food Forest Grove Design
Grove designs take into account seasonal irrigation requirements, fruiting times, as well as environmental characteristics such as cold and wind sensitivity. Our groves are designed for low-input and maximized output that result in higher and higher yields every year as the system matures. This is a viable alternative to traditional agricultural systems, and can be used to restore tired land using economically viable and sustainable methods.
